The Servers
While also providing the standard services that most computer servers perform, the server hardware here at Faris Consulting also donate CPU cycles to Stanford University’s Folding @ Home project. F@H is a distributed computing project that takes individual PC’s, servers and even the Sony Play Station 3 and turns them into a giant super computer. Instead of having thousands of processors in one big machine, this project uses thousands of processors all over the world by dividing up work into individual units that each system can work on. The goal of this worldwide super computer is to simulate a process were proteins assemble themselves ( Also called folding ) and use this data in research in diseases such as Alzheimer's, Huntington’s, and Parkinson’s.
Over the years our servers have run over 4000 individual work units.
